Steel Cord Splice for a whole crew

A splice is crew work. Steel Cord Splice subscriptions can be bought as several seats at once, so a mine or a belt service contractor can equip everyone who works on the splice. Apple handles the seats: who holds one, the invitations and the billing.
Each seat is a full subscription for one person. Standard (US$5.00 a month in the United States) covers design editing, field exports, 3D and AR. Premium (US$20.00 a month in total) adds combination splices and FEA calculations. Each seat costs the price of its plan, and Apple shows local prices before purchase.
If your organization uses Apple Business
Organizations can buy seats through Apple Business from 22 October 2026.
- Check with your device management provider that subscription management is turned on for the organizational unit that will hold the seats.
- A content manager in Apple Business buys Steel Cord Splice Standard or Premium seats for that organizational unit, choosing how many.
- Your device management service assigns each seat to a person. Someone with a Managed Apple Account gets the seat automatically; anyone else receives an invitation and accepts it with their own Apple Account.
- Each person installs Steel Cord Splice from the App Store on iPhone or iPad and opens it. The plan is active straight away, with no Maven account to create.
Moving a seat to someone else
Remove the person in your device management service. Depending on the option chosen there, their access ends at once or at the end of the billing period, and the seat can then be assigned to someone else.
Buying seats yourself
Apple has announced group purchases, in which one subscriber buys several seats and shares an invitation with the crew, for this winter. They are not available yet.
For each crew member
If the app doesn’t show your plan as active, check that you accepted the seat invitation with the Apple Account you use on this device, then choose Restore Purchases in the app. A seat belongs to the organization that assigned it, so ask your administrator to change or cancel it.
Privacy
Steel Cord Splice collects no data. Seats are assigned in Apple Business and in your organization’s device management service; Maven Software Inc. does not run accounts for them. Read the privacy policy.
