Bearing Maven engineering examples — reviewed October 3, 2026

11 input documents: three NASA equation adaptations, seven AFAPL comparison
points, and one Ricci 2009 centered-thrust research comparison. These are
separate downloadable documents, not entries in the released sample picker.
Open in Bearing Maven and retain Frictionless contact (level 1).

Read https://mavensoftware.ai/bearing-maven/examples.html for source references,
boundary conditions and limits. comparison-data.json preserves numerical
results, perturbation endpoints and input hashes. ricci2009-comparison.json
records the independent equation audit, source and active material constants,
35.7780 versus 36.0111 micrometre deflections, and the actual reaction offset.
published-studies.json assesses five further papers; only the centered Ricci
case is offered as a checked runnable comparison. The other four remain pending.

60 rpm is a low-speed reporting surrogate for static cases; the rotating-outer-
ring NASA example uses 600 rpm. Inactive lubrication and mounting fields are
compatibility values and need review before Full bearing analysis. These
checks do not qualify fatigue life or complete thermal or assembly behavior.

Collection update October 4, 2026: six additional source-data research examples
are included as JSON records. They are not native .bearing documents and cannot
be opened directly in the app. See published-source-guide.txt and the website
for source parameters, targets, pending comparisons and remaining input gaps.
The eleven existing .bearing documents and their numerical results are unchanged.

Published radial clearance inputs — October 4, 2026

Open a .bearing file in an updated Bearing Maven source build, retain Frictionless
contact (level 1) and Balance contact forces, then Solve. The document saves both
choices. App Examples offers all eighteen native website documents.

The six Hou cases recover the published loaded-ball counts and closely match
peak loads. Individual small loads can differ: +0.015 mm / 5000 N at 80 degrees
is 0.297 N versus 0.215 N; -0.010 mm / 1000 N at 120 degrees is 33.955 N versus
34.469 N. See the comparison JSON for all balls and independent force sums.

NASA finite ten-ball equilibrium gives 335.352493 N using its rounded stiffness;
Maven gives 335.679327 N. The printed approximate St=5.499 gives 344.7873 N and
belongs to a different method. Materials/elliptics differ. Life, lubrication,
thermal, fitted and dynamic behavior are not qualified by these comparisons.
